JAG Middle School

Today we will quickly review some of the happenings at GMS during the first term.   Circularly, we have covered quite a few topics. Some of our eighth graders are enjoying a swashbuckling good time while reading Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island.  Others read Scythe, by Neal Shusterman, and participated in a mock Conclave.  In social studies class, students have had to use data and map skills to thwart a zombie attack, and now are studying the beginnings of the United States.  Models of the inside of the earth were created in science class. Algebra students reviewed absolute value, inequalities, and rational numbers. Art students created graffiti and discussed whether or not it was an art form, and created Greek-like forms of art.  The seventh graders have been studying ancient Greece, the number system, the water cycle, and truth versus perception. They have also spent time learning about Latin and Greek root words. Our middle school band performed with the high school band at the homecoming football game.  In all of these classes the teachers have worked diligently to provide engaging lessons. The drama and Lego clubs have also begun meeting. Our first term ends Friday, October 26, and we know that we will continue to grow, learn, and be engaged as the year progresses. Go G-Men!
