Congratulations to Ben, Dayton, and Emily from the Garfield Mates for their impressive performances at the Greater Cleveland Scholastic Chess League Tournament last weekend in Rocky River! Competing among nearly 300 students across seven divisions, the trio made their mark on the competition.
Ben dominated the Middle School Reserve Division, securing first place with a perfect 4-0 record. Dayton also had a strong showing, earning fifth place with three wins out of four games. Emily fought hard and was awarded a medal for her efforts, winning one game and drawing another.
The Garfield Mates, coached by Mr. Frato-Sweeney, continue to sharpen their skills as they compete in the PlayVs East Coast Middle School League on Tuesday nights. Great job, Mates—your hard work and dedication are paying off! It's a great time to be a G-Man! Go G-Men! Go Mates!
