Garfield Middle School students have claimed the top prize for their remarkable short film, "Put Down Your Phone, Pick Up Your Life," at the prestigious Friends 4 Friends Film Festival last night in downtown Youngstown. The festival was held at the DeYor Performing Art Center and highlighted eight student created films from around Portage, Trumbull, and Mahoning Counties.
The films narrative, which focuses on social media distraction, is a message that resonates well with both students and adults alike. The cast lit up the stage (and the red carpet) with outstanding acting that brought this message to life with authenticity, brilliance, and a little humor all mixed together.
What makes this win even more special is the remarkable sense of community that rallied behind the project. Students, staff members, family, and friends all played an integral role in bringing this film to fruition. This achievement not only showcases the incredible talent within Garfield Middle School's Drama Program but also underscores the power of collaboration and unity in the pursuit of a common goal. Congratulations to the entire Garfield Middle School community on this well-deserved recognition. It's a great time to be a G-Man!
Go G-Men!
