The Garfield G-Men varsity basketball team continued their strong start to the season in electrifying fashion, surging to a dramatic 72-65 victory over the Berkshire Badgers in a non-conference matchup on Friday night. Fresh off a Monday night win against the Cardinal Huskies, the G-Men rode their momentum to an inspired fourth-quarter comeback, fueled by a raucous home crowd and the lively performance of the Double-G Brass Machine (Garfield High School's student-run pep band).

After trailing for most of the game, Garfield dominated the final quarter, outscoring Berkshire 28-9. The comeback was led by senior Preston Gedeon, who tallied 23 points and showcased his versatility by shooting 88% from the free-throw line. Junior Brandyn Bogucki was a force in the paint, contributing 13 points while maintaining an impressive 83% shooting accuracy from the field.

Senior Aidan Hill delivered a well-rounded performance with 15 points, including three critical three-pointers, and was 4-for-8 from the free-throw line. Senior Cade Rock provided steady interior play, scoring eight points on 80% shooting and pulling down seven rebounds.

Senior Nick Edic also made key contributions, scoring seven points and grabbing five rebounds, while adding two steals on the defensive end. Sophomore Devin Bates and senior D. Tourville provided hustle and energy off the bench, combining for several deflections and strong defensive plays.

The G-Men’s second-half adjustments paid dividends, especially on defense, where they limited Berkshire to just nine points in the fourth quarter. Their collective intensity resulted in 15 forced turnovers, giving Garfield the opportunity to capitalize in transition.

Adding to the game’s electric atmosphere was the Double-G Brass Machine, whose lively performance kept the crowd engaged and provided a significant boost to the team’s energy during pivotal moments.

With this victory, the Garfield G-Men improve to 2-0 on the season. Their resilience, depth, and teamwork set a high bar for the rest of their campaign.
