Garfield boys basketball team celebrates Preston Gedeon's 1000th career point after an 83-45 win over the Southeast Pirates

In a memorable night for Garfield basketball, the G-Men celebrated a significant milestone in their victory over the Southeast Pirates. Senior forward Preston Gedeon etched his name into school history by scoring his 1,000th career point, propelling Garfield to a commanding win. The milestone was a high point in a game marked by teamwork, efficiency, and relentless defense.

The G-Men showcased their offensive prowess by shooting an impressive 66% from the field and 70% from inside the arc. Gedeon led the way with 11 points on 73% shooting, including a remarkable 80% on two-point attempts. Although Gedeon didn’t get to the free-throw line, his consistent scoring and contributions with one rebound and two assists highlighted his all-around impact.

Senior Cade Rock also delivered a standout performance, scoring 16 points with an astonishing 80% shooting efficiency. Rock’s dominance extended beyond scoring; he pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and added five assists, proving to be a force on both ends of the court.

Aidan Hill, another senior leader, was instrumental in facilitating Garfield’s offense. Hill contributed four points, seven assists, and six rebounds, helping the team maintain a fluid and unselfish style of play. Junior guard Brandyn Bogucki was a spark off the bench, adding five points on 56% shooting while also collecting four rebounds and three deflections.

The younger players on the roster also made their presence felt. Sophomore Oliver Walker, in just two minutes of play, made his sole field goal attempt and grabbed a rebound, displaying efficiency in limited action. Sophomore Devin Bates and junior Cam Chapman didn’t light up the scoreboard but provided energy in their short stints on the court.

Garfield’s bench contributed critical defensive plays as well. Senior Nick Edic added two points, three rebounds, and five steals in only five minutes, while senior D. Tourville pulled down four rebounds and chipped in a point. The team’s defense was anchored by its ability to create turnovers, tallying seven steals and six blocks overall.

While Southeast did not report statistics from the game, it was clear they struggled to find their rhythm against Garfield’s smothering defense. The G-Men allowed just 24 total rebounds and forced numerous turnovers, limiting Southeast’s second-chance opportunities.

On a night when the focus was on teamwork, Gedeon’s 1,000th career point added an emotional highlight. With this milestone behind them, the G-Men are setting their sights on continued success as they build momentum toward the postseason.

Garfield’s balanced attack, defensive intensity, and efficient shooting will make them a formidable opponent in their remaining games. With seniors like Gedeon, Rock, and Hill leading the charge, the G-Men are poised for a strong finish to the season and a potential playoff run.
