As you may already know, one of our staff members, Mr. Bartz, has been assigned as our Online Academy Coordinator. He has been hard at work already enrolling students in class, setting up training for our staff and preparing the online programs.
Mr. Bartz will be in contact with all families who have elected to learn online to schedule a parent orientation. This orientation will take place next Thursday from 4-5pm for families in grades k-5 and from 5:30-6:30pm for families in grades 6-12. If you have children in both grade bands it is important to attend BOTH meetings as important information will be shared about each program. Mr. Bartz will be emailing you the invitation and link to access the orientation.
Students learning online for the first semester will have access to workbooks that accompany our online curriculum for grades K-5. These workbooks will be delivered directly to your home in the coming weeks.
I also wanted to share information about Chromebooks today. Each student enrolled at Garfield in grades 6-12 is assigned a Chromebook. Students learning in person will be given their Chromebook on the first day of school. Students who are learning online can pick up their Chromebooks next Friday, September 4th from 11am-noon or from 4-5pm at the event entrance behind the high school. Any family in grades k-5 who does not have a computer at home for online learning may also pick up a Chromebook on September 4th from 11-noon or 4-5pm.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we prepare for so many facets of a new school year. We will continue to communicate information with you as soon as it becomes available.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.
Have a great day, and Go G-Men!
